Summer in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site Dolomites

"The sublime, monumental and colourful landscapes of the Dolomites have also long attracted hosts of travellers and a history of scientific and artistic interpretations of its values."

This is how the UNESCO committee described these unique mountains when they were declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2009. The extraordinary beauty and fascinating geology are only a few reasons, why these spectacular mountains had to be protected.
In addition to the area of the Rosengarten-Latemar, the following South Tyrolean regions have been listed as UNESCO World Nature Heritage sites: Bletterbach Canyon, Trudner Horn Natur Park, Puez-Geisler Nature Park, Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, the Sextner Dolomiten Nature Park, and the renowned Three Peaks.
